Our Mission
At the Friendly Kitchen, our mission is to provide meals for the hungry in a warm and caring, non-discriminating environment through the coordination of community volunteer efforts. In recent years we have been bridging the gap with food insecurity in our community and delivering solutions to families.
The Impact
Our Family Friendly Meals program is our newest initiative which was launched in 2021. The goal is to assist seniors and families struggling with food insecurity. We deliver fully prepared and ready-to-be-served meal families can enjoy together. In two short years, this program has distributed over 60,000 meals as well as 40,000 pounds of food to those in need.
The Challenge and Opportunity
Our current space did not accommodate volunteers for both the in-person dining and our Family Friendly Meal Program. In order to accommodate volunteers and expand our Family Friendly Meal Program, we began construction of an addition in October of 2023.
This newly created space houses a new preparation kitchen, additional storage for food and refrigeration and office space. This addition provides the much needed space to expand our meal program and get meals out to the low-income working families that are food insecure.We are in the process of raising $500,000 to cover these costs.
